Profile: Security Expert

Education
1) BE/ BTech/ ME/ MTech in Computer Science/ Electrical/ Electronics & Communication/ Instrumentation & Control
or MCA or equivalent

2) Certifications such as CISSP and CCSP


Exp: 2-5YRS

Essential Skills:

Knowledge of

PKI and cryptography
of security related protocols such as IPSec, SSL, SSH Kerberos etc
information security threat mechanisms such as DoS, DDoS, MTM attacks and their prevention
Product knowledge of security appliances such as Firewalls, routers, IPS/IDS, and VPN concentrators
network protocols and applications such as TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, DNS, SNMP,
programming languages such as C, C++, VBScript, Windows Scripting Host, Shell scripts etc
software such as protocol analyzers, anti-virus, Terminal services
Best practises in creating a secure environment – securing/hardening perimeter routers, Computers and other hardware, implementing malware prevention solutions ( anti-virus )
Knowledge of information security policies in power plants

1) Minimum 3 years in developing secure infrastructure, information security policies, and/or auditing
2) Minimum 2 years experience in developing security related software


Job Responsibilities:

Analyze security requirements, evaluate, design and implement security structures and applications
legacy systems so as to conform to requirements and also various standards.
The scope of responsibility is at basic system level (i.e. Operating System, Hardware such as PC, routers etc).

Analyze security requirements
Design a solution to satisfy requirements and security standards such as NERC and German and international laws
• Evaluate and compare third party products
• Design and specify interfaces of these third parties
• Design and specify any other security related interfaces
• Design any custom solution that is required
The output of this effort would be Functional Specs and Design Specs
Develop the designed solution
Perform component testing of the developed solution
Review other Functional Specs that deal with security related features/requirements
Develop documentation for maintenance and customers such as Security Handbook
